US Republican candidate Rich Iott has drawn fierce criticism from American politicians after photographs of him dressed in Nazi uniform emerged on the internet.

Senior figures in the Republican Party are now attempting to distance themselves from Herr Iott, who is currently a House of Representatives candidate from Ohio.
Iott has admitted to being a member of a group that re-enacts SS battles, but said his Hitler worship was “purely historical interest” and did not mean “any disrespect to anyone who served in our military or anyone who has been affected by the tragedy of war”.
Pictures of Mr Iott dressed as a National Socialist first appeared on Wiking, the website of a re-enactment group based in the mid-west, and has subsequently circulated in political arenas, causing discomfort among Republicans.
Yesterday, Republican whip Eric Cantor condemned Iott’s dress sense, saying “I do not support anything like this.”
The revelation was always going to be controversial among Republicans, considering that Nazism is a left-wing, socialist ideology, with which they prefer to have no association whatsoever.
Those socialists are always trying to kill Jews.
